What data is processed?
The following sections provide you with an overview of the personal data that we process on our website and the legal basis on which the processing is based.
Loss reports
When you submit a loss report, you provide us with personal data that we process exclusively for the purpose of fulfilling the service:
- First and last name
- Address
- E-mail address
- Preferred language
- Telephone number (optional)
- Details of the object of loss, which contain personal data (e.g. date/year of birth, ID number, debit card number, social security number, ...)
An essential part of the service is the forwarding of your data to public lost property offices within Switzerland (municipalities, cities). They may only use the data to fulfill the statutory duties of a lost property office, to inform you of the find and to hand over the item to you.
If you have additionally agreed to this, your data will also be transmitted to private lost property service organizations (e.g. transport companies and airports) and lost property authorities in other European countries. These organizations or lost property authorities may also only use the data to notify you of the find and hand over the item to you.
The data will be stored for 12 months for these purposes in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a and b GDPR.
Lost property reports
If you have found an easyfind item, you can contact the loser via our website. For this purpose, your first and last name and either your telephone number or your e-mail address will be forwarded once to the person registered under the easyfind code. This is only possible with your consent. Your personal data will not be stored at fundamt.gv.at or easyfind or used for other advertising purposes.
Server log files
To ensure the security and functionality of our websites, we need to collect and analyze access data (website visited, time of access, browser, operating system, IP address). In the event of a security incident, this data is used to determine and eliminate the cause. The data is stored for 12 months for this purpose in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.
Contact forms
As part of processing your inquiry about our products, we process the data that you send us in the contact form. If your inquiry also concerns our partner products, your data may be forwarded to these partners in order to answer your inquiry. In this case, the processing is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b and f GDPR, because it serves to initiate a contract with us and is in our legitimate interest. Your data will be stored for as long as is necessary to process your request.

Some of the cookies used on our website originate from service providers in third countries (especially the USA). It is therefore possible that some of your data (e.g. IP address, usage behavior, technical data) may be transferred to the USA.
